The Bangladesh Diabetic Association, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Welfare of the Government of Bangladesh, has officially inaugurated a 100-bed hospital in Cumilla. The hospital will operate under the National Healthcare Network (NHN), one of the largest service enterprises of the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (BADAS), dedicated to providing affordable and quality healthcare.

The inauguration was attended by Mrs. Sarmin S. Murshid, Advisor for Social Welfare and Women & Children Affairs, Government of Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest. She highlighted the government’s commitment to expanding healthcare services and praised the efforts of BADAS and NHN to improve healthcare access in Cumilla and surrounding areas.

The program was chaired by National Professor A.K. Azad, President of BADAS, who emphasized the organization’s mission to ensure “healthcare for all” through sustainable, non-profit, and service-oriented healthcare models.

Mr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf, Secretary, Ministry of Social Welfare, was present as the Special Guest and expressed the Ministry’s continued support for healthcare initiatives benefiting both diabetic and non-diabetic patients. Senior officials including Mr. Md. Sayel Uddin, Secretary General, BADAS; Mr. Syed Rezwanul Kabir, Chairman, Board of Advisors, NHN; and Dr. M. A. Samad, CEO, NHN, also attended the ceremony.

The hospital is expected to expand essential medical services, improve diabetes management, and provide specialized care for patients in the Cumilla region. With modern equipment, enhanced facilities, and dedicated healthcare professionals, the 100-bed hospital aims to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care while upholding the values and vision of BADAS.

The inauguration marks an important milestone in strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Bangladesh and reflects the joint commitment of BADAS, NHN, and the Government of Bangladesh to ensure accessible and reliable healthcare for all.
